Friday the 18th:
Integrating Yoga Philosophy within Asana
Bringing the Yoga Sutras into Your Practice
Rama Jyoti’s approach to the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali integrates these ancient teachings into asana practice. She weaves the philosophical system of yoga into everyday life through asana and self-observation. Her unique teaching style emphasizes opening the body by extending and breathing into each pose as a deeply spiritual offering, assimilating breath, energy, philosophy and one’s own appropriate structural alignment within each posture. The focus will be on finding the stillness within physical practice that can be carried into life's actions and interactions.
Saturday the 19th:
Yoga: The Practice of Myth and Sacred Geometry
Postures with Mythology and Yantras Woven In
Practicing yoga improves health and creates peace of mind―that’s well known to most Westerners. But for those who yearn to add meaningful depth to their lives, yoga holds even greater riches. In the practice of asana, our bodies assume geometrical forms known as yantras, force fields of energy — condensed, crystallized experiences of the Divine that draw consciousness like a magnet from the outer to the inner worlds. Rama Jyoti will lead a yoga session and discussion on themes from her recently published book, “Yoga: The Practice of Myth and Sacred Geometry.”
Sunday the 20th:
Endocrines and Subtle Anatomy in Asana
Awakening the Chakra System
Daily stressors and overstimulation are known to deplete our endocrine system. Rama Jyoti has discovered ways to stimulate and renew this complex system that governs much of our physical being, and apply this knowledge to rejuvenating the endocrine glands through asana. This session will include discussion and practices that will highlight this powerhouse of our physical condition, the endocrine system and its esoteric anatomy, and explore awakening the subtle vortices of energy of the chakra system.
Monday the 21st:
Opening Our Hearts Through Yoga
Asana & Breathing as a Devotional Practice
In order to open our hearts to others, compassion with ourselves is also needed. Many situations in our daily life cause holding or shortening of the breath, closing down the chest, and ultimately, the heart. In this session, Rama Jyoti will use her unique approach to the breath to guide students as they open their hearts and their Being. She will lead students through a variety of asanas that relieve tension held in the shoulders, back and chest. This series will facilitate the ease of moving comfortably into the “Queen of Asana,” the shoulder stand, known to affect and benefit every gland, organ and system of our body.
